Many of the leisure sites have Changing Places facilities which can be accessed during opening hours. Information can be found above, in the Changing Places section on this page.

Short breaks are accessible activities and leisure opportunities that children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) can participate in. Wiltshire's Short Breaks Scheme, has been designed in consultation with parents and carers, it is open to children and young people aged 6 to 18 years old with an EHCP.

The Ability Sports programme provides opportunities for adults and young people with disabilities to access a sport of their choice. On the following page you can also find links to coaching and club development.

Barnardo's, in partnership with Wiltshire Council, offers a range of youth clubs for young people with additional needs, providing a supportive environment for making friends, exploring hobbies, and developing new skills.

• Griffin Clubs (Ages 13 to 18): Weekly sessions in Calne, Trowbridge, Devizes, Chippenham, and Marlborough, featuring activities like cooking, computer games, and arts & crafts. Open to all with additional needs; carers can attend with those needing 1 to 1 support. £3 per session. Find a club in your area:

  Calne: Tuesday 6:30pm to 8:30pm
  Devizes: Tuesday 6:30pm to 8:30pm

• Kingfisher Clubs (Ages 8 to 18): Bi-weekly clubs for young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), offering activities such as board games and construction toys. £3 per session. Find a club in your area:

  Trowbridge: Friday 5pm to 7pm
  Chippenham: Monday 5pm to 7pm
• Cygnets Club (Ages 8 to 18): A club in the south of Wiltshire, run by Elizabeth House charity, supporting young people with ASD through fun activities and social connections. £3 per session.

All clubs are led by trained professionals and volunteers, ensuring a safe and welcoming space for every participant.

Every day adults, children and their carers struggle to access their community and local area because they are unable to use standard accessible toilet facilities - something that many of us take for granted. Wiltshire Council is committed to enabling everyone within the community access to our vibrant towns, services and local amenities. Wiltshire offers a range of support for young people with learning disabilities and autism. Our team work closely with individuals and their families on a personalised plan that starts with their existing skills and interests.

Day opportunities are for people with a learning disability who wish to be independent in the community but require additional training or assistance. The services aim to enable community members to join in activities, work or volunteer, to meet up with friends, and make new ones!
