The Quality Mark provides a framework for schools to improve their understanding of dyslexia and literacy difficulties and to develop inclusive practice. Wiltshire Council is committed to supporting dyslexia friendly schools so that children and young people with literacy needs, including dyslexia, can succeed in mainstream settings.
Since September 2020, Wiltshire Council Specialist SEN Service (SSENS) has worked closely with the schools, providing ongoing training and support. The schools developed their practice to meet standards in leadership and management; quality of learning; creating a climate for learning and, partnership with parents and carers. Achieving the quality mark is testament to the commitment and inclusive practice. The following 13 schools in Wiltshire have successfully achieved the British Dyslexia Association Dyslexia Friendly Quality Mark:
- Lyneham Primary School
- Malmesbury Primary School
- The Clarendon Academy, Trowbridge
- The Trafalgar School at Downton
