Volunteering

Volunteering is a voluntary act of an individual or group freely giving time and labour for community service. Many volunteers receive training for the areas they work.

There are great benefits to volunteering for individuals, for communities and for organisations. Benefits for individuals can include gaining additional training, networking and work experience that can be added to a CV. The additional support volunteers offer the community is often vital to organisations operations and the amount of support that can be accessed by others.

Wiltshire Centre for Independent Living

Wiltshire Centre for Independent Living is an organisation led by disabled people which promotes choice and control for independent living.  Their posts are open to all and applications from disabled people are particularly welcome. They are keen to recruit a diverse workforce and particularly welcome applications from disabled people using the usual application processes. They welcome volunteers in various roles within the organisation and particularly value the expertise disabled people bring with them from their 'lived experience'. They have a full volunteer policy and approval system and each volunteering role has its own role description and person specification.
