Apprenticeship

Entry requirements for Distance Learning courses prior to applying:

• learners should be over the age of 19 at the start of the academic year.
• learners need to have been a resident in the UK or EEA/EU for at least three years prior to enrolment.
• learners cannot be enrolled if they are currently funded for another course.
• learners must currently reside in England, in a post code outside of London, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, the West Midlands Combined Authority, the Tees Valley Combined Authority, the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, the Newcastle Upon Tyne, North Tyneside and Northumberland Combined Authority, the Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield Combined Authority and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority.

Wiltshire college offer both Distance learner and face to face courses for functional Skills in English and Maths. Face to face classes consists of one 3 hour class per week- where teachers will have contact with a student for that taught session. 
The Distance Learning option makes use of a website called Century that uses AI to identify a student's gaps in knowledge and then generates lessons accordingly. There are tutors assigned for the DL option, but it is the more independent choice, as students will be completing the work at home, managing their own time to find 3 hours a week (recommended) to engage with Century etc. The DL would require students to come into campus to complete exams.

As a rule students do not enrol on both Maths and English at the same time, but due to the flexibility of functional skills, College can often enrol a student onto a second option once one has been completed meaning they can get 2 qualifications in the same academic year.
